Life is busy. It’s easy to forget about body care when you have work, family, kids, holidays, housework and all the rest of it to deal with. Fortunately, taking good care of yourself doesn’t have to be a luxury you only indulge in from time to time. When you make self-care a priority, you’ll feel better about yourself and everything else. Here are 5 ways to look amazing all summer long, and you won’t have to spend a lot of time making it happen.
1. Invest in a low maintenance (but awesome) haircut.
A really great haircut is one that looks gorgeous when you wash it, comb through it and air-dry it naturally. If you add some mousse and scrunch your hair while it air dries, you can get those lush waves that look like you’ve spent a day at the beach. Of course, you can also jazz things up with a blow-dryer, flat iron or curling iron when you want to look especially gorgeous. But if there’s no time to fuss, or you just got out of the pool, you’ll have hair that looks fabulous whether you mess with it or not. Really great haircuts cost a bit more, but the time you’ll save by not having to fight it every day will make it well worth the price.
2. Indulge in a spray tan.
A natural tan, whether by the pool, on the beach or in a tanning salon, may give you that golden glow you crave. But it will also damage your skin, even if you don’t get burned. And, if somehow you manage to get a sunburn despite your best efforts, you’ll look more like a lobster than a goddess. And anyway, who has time for baking on the beach? A spray tan can quickly give you just the look you want, and you won’t have to subject your skin to UV radiation to get it.
3. Use body creams for softer, smoother skin.
When you slather on the body cream after every morning shower, you won’t have the flakiness and dryness that can make your skin look wrinkled, dimpled and older than it is. Do you want something extra out of your body cream? If so, experiment with products like a breast firming cream or a cellulite-smoothing cream. Although the results are not dramatic, these products do deliver smoother skin by hydrating and plumping up the skin’s outer layers while also providing moisture and lubrication.
4. Get a full body waxing and say goodbye to shaving … at least for a while.
Body waxing can keep you stubble-free for up to six weeks. This can be a huge time-saver, and unlike depilatories, waxing won’t irritate your skin or subject it to harmful chemicals.
5. Get regular manicures and pedicures.
Yes, it costs more than doing it yourself, but think of how much time you’ll save. Sit back, get current on email and Facebook, and before you know it, you’ll have beautiful hands and feet to show off at the next round of cookouts, barbecues, parties and picnics.
Let’s be honest; turning heads isn’t always easy. It takes work to keep our bodies looking their best. On the upside, when you treat yourself to these basics of good grooming, the less time you’ll have to spend on how you look and the more time you’ll have to spend on having a great time.
